Katrina and New New Orleans
The destruction of a whole town is a rare occurence, however, this presents the possibility for a great idea to be carried out: MOVE THE FREAKING TOWN.
I have no problem with helping these people. We should do everything in our power to help, but I do have a problem with the idea in general. What complete and utter lack of planning says you should build a town BELOW sealevel in an area where a hurricane can hit it?
Either a massive project should be undertaken to raise the city above sea level, or the city should be moved into a safer place. We'll christen the new town New New Orleans.
More and info.
