Comment Spam

It's started to target my blog, now, also. Or atleast I think that's what it was. A shady character I'd never heard of before came and posted this vague comment:

i thought your blog was cool and i think you may like this cool Website. now just Click Here

With the words "cool Website" and "Click Here" as links. I'm going to turn on the word verification thing for comments. Sorry for anyone's inconvenience.

Wedding

I went to a wedding this weekend in St. Louis.

We left around one in the afternoon on Saturday with my entire family, my cousin Emily, and my aunt Mary. After visting my Grandparent's house on the way, we finally arrived in St. Louis. We had a tough time getting to the hotel, as construction and police activity kept blocking our route. The hotel in which we stayed was the Grand Renaissance Hotel. The hotel was very high-class, but I was disappointed with the pool.

The next morning we went to Forest Park for the pre-wedding brunch. It rained the entire time we were there. Many members of both families were there, and we talked and ate. I was allowed to have some "Mamusa" (spelling?), which is Champagne and Orange Juice. It was delicious. About the time I started to get bored, someone set up a game of ultimate frisbee in the pouring rain. Our team won, but I was muddy and cold afterwards.

The wedding ceremony was to be held in the St. Louis City Museum. This museum was quite possibly the best museum I've ever been to, second only to the Children's Museum. As we were parking, we all noticed the schoolbus precariously tilting over the edge of the roof along with the gigantic praying mantis. Looming over the parking area is an intricate maze of tubing, metal, and assorted junk. An airplane, an old castle looking thing, and a tree all connected to form a giant convulted lair.

Inside, there was another smaller maze thing. This had multiple layers of paths, starting from inside the mouth of a giant whale, under the floor you walk in on, a cave, a giant slinky, a hollow tree, and a series of large vats. Up another floor or two, was the place where we held the ceremony. It was held while we were standing, but other than that, I thought it was very nice. Also on that level was a mirrored hallway, a walk-in safe, and the place where we ate later that night. The fourth floor was mostly closed, but we were able to reach the slide that went from the fourth floor all the way to the bottom, really fast.

We left around nine-thirty or ten, but didn't get home until three in the morning on Monday. I had a lot of fun, and want to go back to that museum someday.

Out of Town

I'll be away until late Sunday/Monday afternoon. Bringing the camera with me, so I'll likely have pictures.

Lost

Watching Lost on TV right now. This is the first episode of the new season and has done much to remind me why I like this show. Try it out if you've never watched it.

I need an mp3 player

Broke my CD player about a month ago, and I see that it's time to upgrade.
Part of me is dying for the sleek, small, expensive IPod Nano, but I truly don't want to spend that much even when my mom has agreed to pay for half of whatever I get.

I found this San Disk player for rougly one fourth the cost, but I worry that I might run out of room with a 60 song limit. Plus, we use ITunes here to download music and I don't want the hassle of burning the songs to CD, ripping them, and then uploading them just to remove their proprietary format.

Comment if you can help, have an opinion about this, or can recommend another product.

I Suspected Something Like This

Because I passed both the GQE and the I-STEP during my Freshman and Sophomore years, I don't have to come in to school today until 12:30. I also get to come in at 10:00 tomorrow and Thursday.

Unfortunately, World of Warcraft is down for maintenance. I guess I could play Resident Evil 4 or something. The only reason I'm awake right now is that I had to drive my brother to the Junior High.

K, I'm Awake Now

I just got up and made myself some coffee. I've slept four and a half hours or so, and that'll just have to be enough for my body.

Last night was kinda mixed. The "Whose Line" games with everyone were fun, and I hope to watch enough to participate in one. The multiple bus rides of the night were annoying. The meeting at Sanctuary was okay, but the games they had us do were boring.

When we finally got to Greattimes (Great Times, GreatTimes, whatever), we were treated to six hours of free arcade games, putt-putt, go-karting, bumper-boating, and jungle-gym'ing, pizza and drinks, or so I thought. It turns out that some of the arcade games were broke, and more of them broke as the night went on as their "Free Play" ran out. Plus, there's only so much shooting or racing one can do for six hours. Putt-putt really can't hold my interest well, by the fifth or sixth holes I usually don't care anymore. The GoKarts had long lines, so I waited until later to ride them, meaning I got the very last race at four in the morning. It was just too cold for bumper boats. The jungle gym, a twisting plastic tube and ball pit paradise, seemed the perfect place to spend the rest of the night, but the employees kicked everyone under twelve out of it. The free pizza and drinks closed around three.

In the end, we ended up forming two teams and playing capture the flag outside. The other team got the putt-putt area, and we got everything else. Oddly, we used live flags to liven up the game. Both teams were evenly matched, and we played an hour and half without either team pulling ahead. Soon after, it was time for us to leave.

I got home at about 6:30A.

Overall, I had fun and really got my money's worth: I spent a small fortune on video game continues, ate a bunch of pizza and drank soft drinks, go-karts, and two games of putt-putt.

Katrina and New New Orleans

The destruction of a whole town is a rare occurence, however, this presents the possibility for a great idea to be carried out: MOVE THE FREAKING TOWN.

I have no problem with helping these people. We should do everything in our power to help, but I do have a problem with the idea in general. What complete and utter lack of planning says you should build a town BELOW sealevel in an area where a hurricane can hit it?

Either a massive project should be undertaken to raise the city above sea level, or the city should be moved into a safer place. We'll christen the new town New New Orleans.

More and info.
